Heart Screenings

You may be able to reduce your risk for stroke and heart attack by scheduling a specially priced heart screening-TripleView or HeartView Scan.

TripleView

Knowledge is power—especially when it comes to heart health. Tens of millions of Americans have high blood pressure, blood clots, heart disease, and other risk factors for heart attack and stroke. Many have no idea.

The TripleView Screening may offer early detection of heart conditions using ultrasound technology. This three-part screening package is painless, non-invasive and uses no radiation. The test includes:

  • An ankle-brachial index test, which compares the blood pressure in your arm with the blood pressure in your ankle to identify peripheral artery disease.
  • A carotid ultrasound to identify carotid artery disease and stroke risk.
  • An abdominal ultrasound to identify an abdominal aortic aneurysm.

These three tests evaluate blood flow through major arteries in three areas of the body, and may help find narrowed or blocked blood vessels. The results that are provided to you and your physician may be the first step in treating heart conditions and possibly preventing a future stroke or heart attack. This screening takes approximately one hour and requires a prescription or order from your doctor.

Specially priced at $99, the TripleView Screening provides answers to your heart health questions.

HeartView

Detect heart disease long before symptoms occur with a quick 10-minute, non-invasive HeartView Scan. The screening is a noninvasive way to detect health problems before symptoms occur and is performed on a state-of-the-art 64-slice CT scanner.

This test measures the amount of atherosclerotic "plaque" in the coronary arteries. Plaque is the substance that builds within the walls of the arteries and can cause a heart attack if the arteries become blocked. Early detection is the key to treating heart disease.

Your test result is a number that is your calcium score. The score can range from 0 to more than 400. Any score over 100 means that you are likely to have heart disease. The higher your score, the greater your chance of having a heart attack. People who score between 100 and 400 or higher, and who are at medium risk for heart disease, are more likely to have a heart attack in the next 3 to 5 years than people who score lower.

Those who would be most likely to benefit from the HeartView scan are:

  • People with a family history of stroke or heart disease
  • Those with diabetes
  • People who are 20 pounds or more overweight
  • Smokers
  • People who have been diagnosed with high cholesterol
  • Males over 45 and females over 55

The scan will be read and reviewed by a board-certified cardiologist.  Afterward, you will receive a report that details your calcium score and scan result. If the report suggests that a follow up is needed, the physician will contact you to inquire as to whether you have a cardiologist. If not, he will refer you to a cardiologist for a follow-up.

This test requires a physician’s order. No insurance will be filed. Purchase your scan at https://www.mdsave.com/mountain-vista-medical-center or call (480) 358-6450 to schedule.
